Job Description

Due to the continued growth of our business, we are looking for a Trainee/Junior Project Engineer.

AHS (Specialist Services) Ltd are a small, family run business based in Ringwood (BH24). Specialising in undertaking refurbishment, repair, replacement, and upgrade works within the ventilation side of the HVAC industry throughout the UK but primarily across the South, from Cornwall to Cambridgeshire.

The role will be primarily office based, working alongside our project team providing the support where required, with a view to taking on your own projects in the future.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to either start or continue learning about project management and/or engineering services as we pride ourselves in developing our staff with the knowledge, experience and training required to deliver a high level of service and satisfaction.

This role also offers the chance to obtain a unique insight into our bespoke and specialised engineering services with opportunities to work closely with our technical and site teams both remotely and on site. The opportunity for site work will be available and highly beneficial to the development of the role. Site work will require early starts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be required to provide support for the project team in tasks such as handling phone calls, procurement, planning, communicating, logistics and other various day-to-day tasks however, as a small business, your responsibilities will be flexible, working alongside not only the project team but also the site, sales, administration and technical teams when required.

Requirements
  • Basic computer skills essential: Microsoft office, Outlook, Word and Excel
  • CAD experience preferred, not essential

Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a engineer’s mate/ trainee to work alongside our existing skilled site-based engineering teams. The work involves AHU/HVAC upgrade / refurbishment projects in existing commercial premises in the UK.

The role requires a person who understands that the site location will vary and hence travel and staying away as required around the UK (ideal location are the Southampton (Hampshire) & Consett (County Durham) area’s due to location of existing skilled engineers). The candidate should ideally have a valid CSCS card as this is a requirement on many of the sites, however any suitable successful candidate would be sent on the course within the first couple of days of employment. Our existing team will be able to offer bespoke training on the installation and refurbishment aspect of AHU’s & HVAC equipment. The role offers the chance to learn bespoke engineering skills with the opportunity to go onto a skilled role.

A flexible approach to working is required due to the times we can access units to be able to switch off to gain access and hence the ability to be able to work weekends and out of hours working is important.

Education /Knowledge/ Skills / Ability

As a Mate/trainee Engineer your main responsibilities will be to work alongside a current skilled site engineer to form the 2nd member of this working team to carry out installation works and repairs on AHU and ventilation systems. dependant on experience training can be provided on the below key duties.

Essential Qualifications and Attributes
  • Preferred mechanical engineer experience / use of hand & power tools
  • Sheetmetal, fabrication, ductwork, air conditioning experience will be beneficial
  • General labouring duties
  • Full driving licence
  • CSCS card
  • Strong customer focus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to listen to instructions from lead engineer
  • Work may require working nights, weekends and long hours depending on the project (Overtime at the applicable rates paid)
